kathmandu, Banking, Finance and Insurance Institute of Nepal (BFIN) in collaboration with Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has successfully organized a one-day conference titled “Ushering Paradigm Shift in the Insurance Industry in the Next Decade- Resilience to Change” on 30 April, 2022 at the Aloft Hotel, Kathmandu.

Distinguished Guest of Honor for the program Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Professor & Director of Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp and addressing the delegates.

The program was categorized into five themes where the speakers and panelists were prominent international and national personalities from India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Global keynote speakers shed light on the emerging issues and shared their experiences on the insurance business aligning the discussions with how we can be ready to face the challenges of next decade’s business and how the insurance industry responds to changes pertaining to insurance sector.

This conference was attended by around 120 delegates including insurance professionals, InsurTech professionals, corporate professionals, rating agencies, agents, media personalities, other distinguished delegates/professionals engaged in the public and private sector and other individuals interested in learning about the region’s insurance sector.

The conference was concluded from the closing remarks by The Chief Guest Mr. Surya Prasad Silwal, Chairman of Beema Samiti- The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Nepal. Respected Mr. Silwal put forth his expectations regarding more policies and provisions to develop the insurance sector in coming fiscal policy of the government of Nepal. He emphasized on importance of awareness imparted by the guest personalities and encouraged everyone in Nepal to sustain and improve the insurance sector through collaboration and coordination. Moreover, he expressed that if the drafted National Insurance Policy came into force, it would immensely help the insurance development. Closing the remarks, he also emphasized the importance of insurance to alleviate the poverty by providing financial security to the people.
