Nepalis abroad send 1.449 trillion rupees in remittances in eight months
Kathmandu. Nepalis who have gone abroad have sent remittances worth Rs 1449.65 billion into the country by the end of the current fiscal year. According to the data of Nepal Rastra Bank, the remittance inflow has increased by 37.7 percent. The remittance inflow had increased by 9.5 percent in the same period of the previous year. The remittance inflow in the last Falgun was Rs 188.64 billion. In the same month of the previous year, the remittance inflow was Rs 151.19 billion.

During the review period, the number of Nepalis who obtained final work permits (institutional and individual-new) for foreign employment was 273,536 and the number of those who obtained re-work permits was 251,985. In the same period of the previous year, such numbers were 317,068 and 217,403, respectively.
Similarly, the current account remained in surplus by Rs 552.85 billion during the review period. In the same period of the previous year, the current account was in surplus by Rs 197.3 billion. In US dollars, the current account, which was in surplus by Rs 1.46 billion during the same period of the previous year, has remained in surplus by Rs 3.88 billion during the review period.
Similarly, as of the end of Falgun, Rs 10.84 billion foreign direct investment (equity only) has been inflowed. In the same period of the previous year, such foreign direct investment (equity only) was Rs 8.47 billion. During that period, the balance of payments position was in surplus by Rs 658.35 billion. In the same period of the previous year, the balance of payments position was in surplus by Rs 310.37 billion.
